PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear School Community,

I would like to thank you all for your vital support during the most recent lockdown. We have all been experiencing a new way of life with the COVID 19. We have had remote learning for two weeks. I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our staff, students and parents during these challenging times. I am delighted to observe the students settle back into their routines well, especially in lower grades.

The virus is not eliminated. Therefore, please stay alert for any symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested immediately if any symptoms are present.

I want to share the following items with you:

Parent Teacher Interviews: The parent teacher interviews (PTI) will be held next week on Thursday, June 24th. I believe these interviews help strengthen communication between parents and the school and have positive influences on students’ learning. The PTIs will be online this year. We have already shared the link with you to book your appointments. Interviews will be 10 minutes. If you miss your appointment or need a longer time, you can always call the school and arrange another mutually convenient time.

Cadet Program: Sirius College Army Cadet Unit was established last year. The aim of Cadet training is to equip students with essential life skills such as self-reliance, managing pressure, surmounting challenges, team building, self-discipline, responsibility and leadership. The Australian Defence Force supports Cadets, but Cadets are not part of the military and there is no expectation that Cadets will join the Defence Force.

The Cadet team is currently recruiting new members and asking Year 9 and 10 students to participate. We have already held our first online meeting with the interested students and their parents two weeks ago. If you want to learn more about the program, please contact the school.

Cadets is truly an extremely rewarding program and I am hoping that our students will not miss this opportunity.

Saturday Tutoring Classes: The tutoring program was initiated a few weeks ago and is held on Saturdays. We aim to support the students with their numeracy and literacy skills. Due to the recent lockdown, the Saturday classes were cancelled. If your child is enrolled for this program, please make sure that your child attends the program regularly. If your child is absent for 3 consecutive weeks, they may lose their eligibility to continue this program.

Enrolment for 2022: We are finalising the majority of our foundation and other year level enrolments for 2022 soon.

If you have a school-aged child and want to enrol to our school, please start the online application from our website at:

https://www.sirius.vic.edu.au/enrolment/enrolment-information/

The same online application is applied for other year levels. If you have a friend who is interested in our school, please advise him/her to go into our website and click on either ‘Expression of Interest’ or ‘Application Form’. We are happy to contact interested families once one of these options are initiated. School tours are also available.

2021 Qurban Campaign: We are organising a Qurban Campaign in collaboration with the Australian Relief Organisation (ARO). We all participate in a very profound cause – understanding, giving and helping the poor and needy. We believe that as a school community and with our collective efforts we can make a significant difference in the lives of those less fortunate. The donations collected from the 2021 Qurban Campaign will be sent to Africa and Asia-Pacific countries.

I wish you all a very restful and safe Semester break.

Yours faithfully,
Mr. Adem Engin
Campus Principal
